A FOOTBALL hero has been named as a figurehead of a Mirfield charity.
Huddersfield Town legend Andy Booth has become the Holly Bank Trust's Champion, meaning he will be the face of fundraising events for the charity, which cares for young people and adults with severe disabilities.

Andy, who has been nominated for a national award by the Football League for his work in the community, said: "I am delighted and honoured to have been named as the Holly Bank Champion and I cannot wait to get under way.

"Holly Bank carries out so much invaluable work with some of society's most vulnerable members, such as children with severe physical disabilities, and I am happy to help in any way, shape or form when it comes to fundraising for such a worthy cause."

Huddersfield Town and Holly Bank Trust launched a partnership last year, and the club has committed to supporting the trust through charity events.

Lisa Russell, Holly Bank Trust's senior fundraiser, said: "We are so pleased to be in partnership with Huddersfield Town and now to have Andy Booth as Holly Bank's Champion is wonderful. To be working with a local legend is such a privilege, and we are looking forward to the partnership going from strength to strength."
