My car is old and developed an annoying knock from the engine.

I took it to a mechanic who after a cursory examination, said it is ‘old and worn, best thing to do is to get some earplugs for when you drive.’

I am an old man, I developed a nagging pain and went to see the doctor, who after a cursory examination, said, ‘how old are you, learn to live with ti and paracetamol, you are allowed eight a day.’

Ok, so I lied about the mechanic but you get the idea. HE was saving ME money, the doctor was and is saving money for our International Health Service but still at my expense.

I think I prefer to trust the mechanic.
