Good nature of elections

This year was the first time I had acted as candidate's agent in the local elections. I hope my inexperience did not hamper Rashid Afsar too much!
We would both like to thank Susan Hutson and her staff in Kirklees Electoral Services for their steady supply of helpful letters. No-one could be in any doubt about what was required to keep the election free and fair.
If you value the ballot box the low number of votes cast across Kirklees was a disappointment. It is noticeable that the best turn-out was in those wards where at least two candidates made a genuine effort to campaign. There is no substitute for putting in the hours.
We would like to commend both our volunteers and those of the successful candidate in Dewsbury West for their hard work and the good natured way it was carried out.
