It warmed my heart
I JUST wanted to mention something that really touched me this week and reminded me that there are still some positive things going on despite the gloom and doom of modern day life in Britain that's grinding everyone down.
My five-year-old son came home with an invitation to a little boy's birthday party last week.
Enclosed with the invitation was a little note saying it would be lovely if my son could come and enjoy his friend's fifth birthday party but instead of bringing a present to please put the money that would have been spent on a gift to a children's charity such as the NSPCC, using it as a time to not only celebrate the boy's birthday but also to reflect on all the children that are disadvantaged and less fortunate than our own. I thought this was a wonderful, thoughtful idea as we all know how indulged our children are at birthdays, Christmas and in-between!
It made me think of all the presents and toys that have ended up in a toy box or under the bed unplayed with. What a wonderful idea I'm sure most parents would agree!
