One of the nicest boys
I WAS deeply sorry to learn from your paper of the demise of George Stringer.
George was one of the nicest boys ever to be born in Dewsbury.
I knew him from our youthful days, also Audrey Fothergill (my own maiden name, although we were not related), whom George married – a very beautiful girl who matured into a beautiful woman.
The Stringer family business helped so many people in this town to acquire furniture, fixtures and fittings which they could not otherwise have afforded.
I knew George's father Charlie and mother Blanche very well.
I have, personally, treasures in my home acquired at 'Stringers' which mean much to me and will always serve as a reminder of the family business.
May I extend, through your paper, my sympathy to Ray and Jacqueline on the loss of their father, now re-united with Audrey.
