I AM full of admiration for gritter and bus drivers and for posties during the recent awful snow and ice.
However, the appaling state of the pavements, which are far worse in Huddersfield than in Dewsbury, could have been alleviated if householders and shopkeepers had cleared and salted their own bit.
While not everyone has the strength to shovel, the vast majority could sprinkle salt to break up ice. Surely anything is better than broken limbs.
