I AM writing as the previous owner of Savile Town Post Office to say a great big 'Thank You' to Shahid Malik for what he did to help the effort to keep the office open.
I went to work at Savile Town the day I left school in 1940 and left the day we retired and handed over to the current owner Abdul - 42 years in all.
I am now 84 years of age and on my own. My husband died in 1995. The inhabitants of Savile Town were our customers, friends and neighbours and are still my very good friends.
They treat me with the utmost care and with great consideration and I have much to thank them for.
I myself wrote to Post Office Ltd.
I told them that whilst I know the Post Office is losing money and needs to close some offices, Savile Town is not, and never has been, a loser and should never be closed.
Thank you so much once again for helping as you have done. I was so pleased when Abdul told me last Saturday that we had won.
