WHILE we are thankful to the gritters that have kept Hopton Lane open, I was upset that the grit bin at the junction with Northgate/Holling Hall Lane was completely empty.

I wanted to put grit on our lane in Northgate and pavements. The pavements are too icy to walk on and the road is too dangerous.
We have a note to say it was filled on December 21, yet hardly any had been used by us for a while. Are people coming and emptying our bin for their own purpose?
Having said that I did see a four track car putting grit from a bin into a sack at Hartsead. Shame on you and all who do it.
Knowing that grit is in short supply we know it will be a long time before our bin will be filled again. I hope no one gets stuck in this awful weather in our area.
