I READ with interest in Letterbox (Reporter, February 5) two items that made me smile.
The first was from Coun Paul Kane, concerning the long running saga of Staytons and Pioneer House. He, like others, was misled by this so-called developer being the only way to move Dewsbury forward, due to of lack funding or interest from that lot in Huddersfield. He has at least put it in print that he accepts he been misled, but is going to fight on for this town of ours. Good for you Coun Kane, little things like this helps one to believe there are still people out there fighting our corner.

The second was from Mr Darren O'Donovan concerning the huge funding provided over an 11 year period.

If my maths are correct this amounts to just over £500 million.

What gave me a wry smile was that I am not alone in wanting leaders to come forward in the fight for this town. Let it not be just political leaders, but others from different groups in the community. Please don't keep reminding me we have a regeneration group that is a positive, but with more voices the louder we can shout. Try "Dewsbury for Dewsbury People" or is it a case of "Revolution to get Regeneration".

Remember we ALL pay council tax to Kirklees Council where's our share of the benefits? Once again I dare Kirklees Council to justify the massive inbalance of funding. Come on leave fortress Huddersfield and face the people of Dewsbury.
