WHEN may we expect Kirklees Council Inspectors to come out and do a risk assessment on the present ice-bound state of the pavements?
I congratulate the gritting team on doing an excellent job of keeping the main roads clear. The side roads are more suspect; the pavements completely untouched.

Obviously priority has been given to the motorist. What happens when the motorist steps out of the car and becomes a pedestrian?

Would it be asking too much to enlist help from some of the youthful unemployed?

I know a number of people who are temporarily housebound because of the icy conditions. Kirklees may feel they have budget restrictions - but the buck has been passed to the NHS, who are at present treating the thousands who have sustained fractures caused by folks on the ice.
