KNOWING how important it is that we all receive appreciation for a job well done, I would like to thank you and the staff at the Reporter for the well presented and interesting paper you publish.
Having recently returned to live in West Yorkshire after several years in Sheffield, I have become a regular reader of your paper and have been impressed by the variety and inclusivity of the articles in it.
I very much enjoy Margaret Watson's pieces and the coverage of sport locally is very good.
However, it was the short column about Crow Nest Park and the late Peter Cardwell, the one time head gardener there, that prompted me to write to you.
I knew Mr Cardwell and in fact conducted his funeral service many years ago now.
I recall that he was a very accomplished gardener and it was good to be reminded of him and the service that he, and many like him, have given to out local communities.
Sadly public service rarely receives the recognition and appreciation that it deserves.
Thank you for giving a place to those whose work might otherwise be forgotten.
