Couple's car-jack terror

A MAN was beaten by armed attackers who tried to steal his Land Rover.
The drama unfolded in the early evening as a 36-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman pulled up outside a house in Orchard Street.

A man appeared at the window of their Land Rover with what is believed to be a gun. As the driver got out another man appeared brandishing a baton. The driver was beaten about the face and body.

The woman was also threatened by the men who jumped into the Land Rover but were unable to start the engine, and fled on foot.

The driver was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Insp Jenny Thompson said: "We are investigating the possibility this was a targeted attack."

The attack happened about 7.30pm on Saturday, February 27.

The first suspect was described as Asian, in his late 20s, around 5ft, slim build and wearing a face covering with a skull.

The second was described as Asian, around 5ft 10ins, broad, in his late 20s and wearing a black balaclava.
