ELDERLY residents of a Mirfield care home have put together a project to support Haiti earthquake victims.
The pensioners, who live at Field Head Park, Kitson Hill Road, chose the Haiti appeal for their spring project, and are now busy collecting toiletries to send to the stricken country.
Events co-ordinator Elaine Wilson said: "On national Action for Dignity day last week we had a coffee morning with beauty treatments and a sing-along, and some of the residents went out to a play in the evening.
"To help celebrate that, and launch our spring project, residents said they would like to do something for the people of Haiti.
"Action for Dignity day is all about having more dignity in care, so they said if they collected toiletries it would give the Haitian people the dignity of being clean."
The residents are collecting items like toothpaste, flannels, sponges and soap, which can fit into shoeboxes.
Items can be donated at the home.
They will be distributed by the Red Cross.
