BABIES are having fun learning about the senses at a Mirfield nursery.
The babies, at Little Acorns Nursery, Towngate, are exploring touch, taste, smell, sound and sight in the nursery's new sensory room.

Nursery nurse Leanne Marney said: "In our sensory area we have lots of cushions for the babies to relax as they are exploring the different treasure baskets.

"The treasure baskets include wooden spoons, fruits, loofahs, shaving brushes, nail brush, pine cones, fabrics, egg boxes, toothbrushes, whisk, pegs, egg cups and natural sponges."

Room leader Jo Dodd said the new facility was part of the curriculum for babies and chilren up to three years old.

She said: "They use their senses to develop their natural responses and movements. They really love it, and we also have a bubble machine so they have fun catching them and making lots of noise as well.

"We have to plan and equip so the babies develop in a lot of different areas."
