ENGLISH football may be synonymous with a certain Danish lager - but one landlord wants drinkers to get behind England in the 2010 World Cup by drinking a special British beer.
Old Colonial Club landlord Tim Wood has started a campaign getting footie fans to 'give a World Cup cheer for English beer' and enjoy the competition with a pint of White Rose Breweries' Brits Vic 66.
Tim said: "The name is a play on words - it's short for British Victory 1966, which is the last time we won the World Cup.
"In 1966 nobody had even heard of lager, but now, Carlsberg owns the beer brand 'official beer of England'.
"How are we allowing a Danish company selling a German lager to tell English people what to drink during the World Cup?"
Tim 'kicks off' his campaign at the club on Dunbottle Lane, Mirfield, tomorrow - when ale lovers will be able to get the first taste of the new brew.
