Susi treks across Mongolia for smile charity

A RIDER is to take on a daunting 600-mile Asian pony trek for charity just one year after suffering horrific injuries in a fall from her horse.
Susi Sadler, 28, was thrown from her home-bred horse Rudi last year into a fence post, slicing her face from nose to ear, leaving her cheek hanging off.

After five hours of surgery and 80 internal and external stitches, lifelong rider Susi was left with a barely noticeable scar – but damaged nerves meant she had to learn how to smile again.

Now Susi has recovered her confidence in the saddle, and after being sent away for schooling Rudi is on his best behaviour, even winning a rosette at last year's Mirfield Show.

And one year on, Susi has decided to take part in the Mongol Derby in the Asian country of Mongolia in aid of Operation Smile, which pays for surgery for poor children with facial deformities.
