ANTIQUE lovers on the lookout for a bargain can now make a stop at a Mirfield charity shop.

For Oxfam has now opened a specialist section which is full of valuable items which collectors can snap up.

Manager Peter Laird said: “In the past we have had a guitar which was a replica of Paul McCartney’s Rickenbacker. It was worth more than the original as they made less of the reproduction than the original. We sold that on Ebay. If they don’t sell in the shop we tend to put them on Ebay.

“We also had a shop model of Canon camera which was in the shop for 99p. It didn’t sell so we put it on Ebay and it went for about £162! We have also started putting more clothes on Ebay - we had a Jaeger coat that didn’t sell in the shop that went for £45 on the site.”

Mr Laird said the shop priced items at about a third of their internet value at the Huddersfield Road store.

He added: “There is always a bargain to be had here.”
