Brass bandsmen will link Batley with the famous Tour de France when they visit the town next month to give their eighth successive annual concert in the town hall.
The Hammonds Saltaire Brass Band usually entitle their midsummer concert The Last Night of the Proms, but this year it is being linked with the high profile cycling event.
Le Grand Depart is the concert’s name with the night’s musical programme alternating between English and French numbers.
Their programme will include such well known numbers as the Carmen Fantasy, Coronation Scot, a Fantasia of British Sea Songs and the Pomp and Circumstance March before finishing off with Jerusalem.
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.15pm on Saturday June 7, are available from the town hall or by calling Ted Griffiths on 01924 478933. They cost £10 for adults and £8 for concessions.
