Bulldogs fans give hero’s welcome to Gomersal soldier
Lance Corporal Sean Donlan led out the Batley Bulldogs before their match with Barrow Raiders last Sunday. The soldier earned rapturous applause from fans who showed their support for the troops as the club marked Armed Forces Day. LCpl Donlan, who lives in Gomersal, was seriously injured when shrapnel from the explosion passed through his skull and damaged his brain in April 2011.
His family was told he would almost certainly die, but he has made a remarkable recovery.
