Retail chain B&M plans to open a new store in Dewsbury.
The town is one of six locations around the country where the company is setting up branches.
A spokesman said: “We are delighted to announce that B&M Retail will be moving into new premises on Wilton Street and creating more 40 jobs.”
The 16,000sq ft store is expected to open in March.
But the company has already begun recruiting staff and is looking for a store manager.
The spokesman said: “At B&M, we recruit for attitude and train for skill.
“We always believe that our colleagues make the store what it is and we are now recruiting for our new store.
“Applications are still open for a number of positions including that of store manager and any applicants wishing to apply for jobs can now visit www.bmstores/careers.”
The company, which started out with one shop in Blackpool in 1978, now has more than 350 stores nationwide.
