TWO children are joining their dads for a 135-mile bike ride across the north of England to raise money for Kirkwood Hospice.
Anna Dawson and Joe Townend, both 12, will cycle from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Newcastle between April 24 and 26.
They’ll be joined on the trip by their dads, Andy Dawson, of Woodward Court, Mirfield, and Richard Townend, of Norman Drive, Mirfield.
Mr Townend said: “It will be a real achievement. They are both keen cyclists and regularly cover 20-plus miles, but something of this size will be a big, big challenge for them.”
Joe, who goes to Mirfield Free Grammar, and Anna, a pupil at Castle Hall, are both active members of Kirklees Cycling Academy.
They are hoping to raise at least £350.
Kirkwood Hospice is close to both families’ hearts. Joe’s grandmother and Anna’s grandfather were both cared for by the charity.
