RESIDENTS of a Mirfield care home received a big surprise in the post recently – a letter from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Members of the craft group at Fieldhead Park in Kitson Hill made a wedding card to send to Prince William and Kate and were thrilled when a reply thanking them for their gesture dropped through the letterbox.

The home’s activities co-ordinator, Elaine Wilson, said: “It was a lovely letter, addressed to all the residents, and obviously individually written.

“It said the Duke and Duchess thanked them for their handmade card, that it was greatly appreciated and they were genuinely touched.”

Elaine said four or five of the residents were involved in designing and making the card but that everyone at the home, which caters for older people, was delighted to receive the letter.
