AN elderly woman was robbed of thousands of pounds in her own home.

A man knocked on the door of an 81-year-old woman’s house and told her there was a problem with the pipes.

The victim was led into the kitchen and told to sit and watch both taps running. The suspect was believed to have been joined by a second man and both searched the house and stole several thousand pounds of cash before leaving.

The man who knocked on the door, at the home in St Peter’s Gardens, Earlsheaton, was a white man in his 30s or 40s, around 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, of medium build with short brown hair.

The pair are thought to have left in a small white van.

Police have just released details of the crime and anybody with any information should contact DC Adrian Cowan at Dewsbury CID on 01924 431095 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
