A stolen car was involved in a crash in Mirfield town centre minutes after it was taken by two men.

The pair stole the blue BMW 330 from Stocks Bank Road, Battyeford, where it had been left open with its engine running.

They drove the car along Huddersfield Road to Station Road, where it collided with a Suzuki Vitara, causing front end damage.

But the pair did not stop and continued to drive the BMW along Station Road to Granny Lane and Sands Lane, where they abandoned it.

A police spokesman said the car was stolen at around 8.40pm on Monday March 25.

The driver was described as an Asian man with black hair. No one was seriously hurt in the crash.
