HUNDREDS of dancers will take to the stage for a Mirfield dance school’s show.

The Katie Philpott School of Dance is holding its final rehearsals before four performances of The Best of the Brits at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield.

Principal Katie Philpott said: “It’s a musical tribute to all the classic British artists and bands.

“We’ve got things like Shirley Bassey, The Beatles, JLS and Alexandra Burke.

“There’s something for everyone.”

The show will feature performances from ballet, tap, jazz, street dance and musical theatre students.

The school, set up in 2000, is based at the Wellhouse Moravian Church.

Ms Philpott said: “There’s about 300 children at the school aged three and up.

“This is our main show. We have one every 18 months or so.

“We’re producing 500 costumes for this show so there’s a lot to sort out.”

The show is on April 9 and 10 with performances at 2pm and 6.30pm.

Tickets are available from the theatre box office on 01484 430528.
