A dedicated dinner lady has been awarded in the Queen’s New Year Honours for services to education.

Gaynor Clegg, 75, will receive a British Empire Medal after 43 years working at Ravensthorpe Junior School.

The loyal senior lunchtime supervisor said during her 40th anniversary celebrations at the school – where she still works five days a week – that she wants to have her ashes scattered there.
