A CHURCH has been working with the local community to raise money for a Christian aid charity.

Dewsbury Evangelical Church set up a community cafe during a week of activities designed to build links with people in Eastborough.

More than £700 was taken by Cafe Quench in that time, with all proceeds going to the Asia Link charity.

The church also hosted a curry club and quiz night at the Dewsbury Central Station pub, and members of the congregation gave up their time last Tuesday afternoon to help local residents with their gardening.

The church in Crackeneddge Lane is currently on the lookout for larger premises, ideally in the town centre.
