Two children were attacked by a pair of out-of-control dogs at a park in Cleckheaton.

The incident happened in Littletown skate park at the back of Spenborough Pool, off Bradford Road, this month when the dogs escaped from their owner and attacked two young boys who were playing nearby.

The dogs, described as “staffy” types, attacked the two brothers, aged 10 and 12, biting one of them on the hand.

The owner is then said to have fled from the scene after not tethering the dogs.

Martyn Lee, safer neighbourhood team coordinator for Kirklees North, said: “We are still on the lookout for the owner of these dogs.

“A lot of the time, some people get these types of dogs as accessories, and don’t realise how dangerous they can be.”

The incident took place on Sunday May 18.

The owner of the dogs was described as an Afro-Caribbean male, over 6ft tall, well built and with tattoos.

He was also not wearing a shirt at the time.

Anyone with information about this incident, in particular the identity of the man, contact PCSO Simon Huscroft at Heckmondwike Police Station on 01924 206357.
