A SLAP up meal and a good chin wag is on offer at a town luncheon club.

Mirfield Salvation Army hosts its meal time club every Monday and Friday.

For £3.50 a visit, members can enjoy a three course meal followed by tea or coffee and a chat with friends.

And now the club has space for new members, so any pensioners looking to boost their social life can apply.

Captain Ian Davis, from the church, said: “The club has been going for more than 15 years and we have many members who have been coming for a long time.

“The fact that we have a regular clientele means it’s valuable to people. We have a lot of people that come back week after week and for a lot of them it’s a key point of their social lives.

“We often have people coming along who want to make new friends. It’s a good social occasion for people. When everybody is in and all the chatter is going on it’s a nice social event.”

The club meets every Monday and Friday from noon to 1pm. Contact Captain Davis on 01924 498560.
