Firefighters tackled a blaze at a derelict building in Heckmondwike.

Crews from Cleckheaton and Dewsbury extinguished the fire at the premises on Cemetery Road at around 4.30pm on Monday.

The fire was started on the ground floor of the property.

Firefighter Adrian Hunter said: “It was put out within half and hour and it did not spread to anywhere else.

“We think some kids may have started it as we saw some running away when we got there.

“We have had a few fires there and it looked like the building had not been boarded up properly.”
