Firefighters tackled a blaze at a farm in Briestfield this afternoon (Tuesday).

They were called to Poplar Farm in Briestfield Road at around 3.30pm after reports that an outbuilding was on fire.

A fire service spokeswoman said more engines were called to the scene after a diesel tank was found nearby – but this was later found to be empty.

One large jet, two hose reels and four firefighters in breathing apparatus from Dewsbury and Mirfield attended the fire, which now appears to be under control.
