Heckmondwike man killed in Cleckheaton car crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a car crash in Cleckheaton early today (Monday).

The crash happened about 1.26am after the car, a blue Ford Focus, apparently lost control on a bend in Spen Lane and left the road, hitting a tree.

The driver, a 44-year-old Heckmondwike man, suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene.

The road was closed for a number of hours while investigation work took place.

The Major Collision Enquiry Team (MCET) would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. Anyone who has information should contact them on 101.
