Airlift drama after M62 accident

A LORRY driver has been airlifted to hospital after a motorway crash.

The M62 was closed between junction 24 at Ainley Top and junction 25 at Brighouse following the accident at 12.50pm.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said that two heavy goods vehicles were involved in the smash in the second lane of the westbound carriageway.

One of the drivers was airlifted to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with injuries to their back, which police say are not thought to be life-threatening.

The Highways Agency has said traffic conditions are now normal at the eastbound entry slip at junction 25, but added there are currently delays of 10 minutes due to one lane being closed.

It also said traffic was heavy at M62 westbound entry slip at junction 27 at Birstall.
