An art felt day

A FIGHTING father is organising a charity event to thank the hospital staff who saved his son’s life.

Mirfield Martial Arts Club instructor Steve Moore is planning a mega-throw where members of the group will perform 10,000 martial arts throws in one day.

The event is to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax where Mr Moore’s son, Ethan, was looked after when he was born six months premature.

“I asked the club if they would help me and they jumped at the opportunity,” Mr Moore said.

The mega-throw takes place at the club’s Budokai in Ledgard Bridge Mill, Mirfield, on Saturday October 20 – five days after Ethan’s first birthday.

The event will be followed by a charity auction and quiz night at The Navigation Tavern in Station Road, starting at 6.30pm.
