Arsonists have badly damaged a children’s nursery in Wyke.
Fire crews from Odsal and Brighouse were called to St Mary’s Community Nursery on Huddersfield Road, in Wyke at around 7.15pm last night (Friday).
A playhouse was completed destroyed in the blaze which also spread to a garage and caused significant damage.
Philip Warden, watch commander at Odsal fire station, said: “I would say the cause of the fire was deliberate. There is no other way a blaze like it could have started.
“There is no electric to the playhouse so I would say it was a deliberate ignition.”
The blaze also damaged the nursery’s rubber matting which surrounds an outdoor play area.
No-one was injured in the incident.
