An aspiring young actor from Mirfield has landed a role in the award-winning Channel 4 sitcom Fresh Meat.
Dale Jones, 19, made his first appearance in the latest episode of the show, which aired on Monday night.
The former Thornhill Community Science College pupil plays Goth student Gary, a love interest of one of the main characters.
“Filming was really good fun,” he said.
“I was surprised to get the role – this is the biggest thing I’ve done so far and it will be great to add on to my CV.
“I’m trying to establish myself as an actor but it’s tough and any experience, especially extra roles like this, is good for taking my first steps in the industry.”
The sitcom follows the lives of seven students at the fictional Manchester Medlock University, who all share a house in Rusholme.
Dale, who is studying performing arts at Kirklees College, stars in two episodes in the current series.
His “distinctive look” caught the eye of the production team – but Dale almost missed out on the chance to join the cast altogether.
“The production team contacted my agent in Manchester and invited me to audition after seeing some of my photos,” he said.
“They liked my look and, as I have long hair, I think they thought it would be quite easy for me to be turned into a stereotypical Goth.
“A few days later though they told me the scenes and character were being scrapped and cancelled the audition.
“I was absolutely gutted.
“Then, a week later, I received a phone call saying everything was going ahead and they wanted me for the scenes - in the end I didn’t even have to audition.”
