Plans for a controversial housing development in Mirfield went on show to the public yesterday (Monday).
Bellway Homes hope to build 136 homes on Balderstone Hall fields. Representatives from the company set up in Northorpe Hall from 4pm to 7.30pm to discuss the plans with residents.
But many people were sceptical of the proposals – which seem to be very similar to plans which were thrown out by a government planning inspector when Bellway applied to build on the same plot 14 years ago.
Campaign group Save Mirfield – which helped to derail the original plans – met at The Flying Shuttle pub around the same time to discuss the plans.
Keith Andrews, from the group, said: “Why Bellway think they can come and successfully develop this wonderful open space defeats me.”
