‘Brand’ new start for design duo

Yorkshire’s biggest business conference has been given a facelift by a Dewsbury-based design company.

The Buy Yorkshire conference, which last year attracted more than 3,000 businesspeople from around the region, has put its faith in Earlsheaton-based Rushfirth Creative to rebrand and publicise the conference.

Rushfirth Creative was started three years ago and is run jointly between husband-and-wife duo Howard and Kathryn Rushfirth.

Kathryn said: “There are lots of bigger design and media companies that are in the Yorkshire Mafia group, and they could have gone with them, but we feel very priviliged to have been chosen.

“They gave us the task of creating the posters and graphics for last year, but this year, we have helped completely rebrand the event.

“We wanted to give the graphics a ‘Worlds Fair’ feel, which included incorporating the new name: Buy Yorkshire.

“We wanted to get the point across that this is not like any other conference or exhibition- it’s a celebration of Yorkshire business and a major national business event in its own right.”

The two helped put together the brochure for last year’s conference, and Howard Rushfirth said it was a huge privilege to have been afforded a bigger opportunity to develop ideas.

He said: “Our first major project was the 2012 conference, which went down an absolute storm. During the two days of the conference we took every opportunity to canvass opinion, and the feedback we got was incredibly good and reassured us that our bold approach had paid off.”

The Buy Yorkshire conference takes place at the Royal Armouries ion Leeds from 24-25 April.
