An independent shop has got it licked when it comes to collecting money for the Sam’s Wish to Walk appeal.
The Melting House in Mirfield is just one of the local businesses helping Sam Bottomley’s family raise £35,000 for a life changing operation.
Owner Sue Ibberson is donating all the money taken through sales of her chocolate lollies for children this month.
“I saw a story about the appeal in the paper and you think of yourself if you were in their shoes,” she said.
“Whatever I get from sales of the £1 children’s lollies will go to Sam. I think I’ve made about £100 already.”
The shop in Huddersfield Road also has a collection tin and appeal wristbands for sale.
Money raised by the appeal will fund an operation and intensive physiotherapy which could eventually allow six-year-old Sam, of Calder Road, Lower Hopton, to walk independently.
A curry and quiz night with raffle and penny auction will be held at the Old Colonial in Mirfield tomorrow, 8pm. Tickets priced £5 are available from the pub.
A fashion show is also being held at Hopton Primary School on Friday February 21, 7pm. Tickets are £5 from the Sandwich Shop and Lower Hopton News, both in Calder Road.
