Council seeks views on libraries

PEOPLE are being asked how they’d like local libraries run in the future.

But Kirklees Council is being tight-lipped about exactly what changes may be in the pipeline.

The council is advertising a series of open days in Kirklees libraries, where people can share their views to help ‘shape the future’ of the service.

A spokeswoman said: “The Open Day events in Library and Information Centres that are taking place during September and October form part of the future libraries discussion.

“The Village Library consultation was one part of this and the results will inform future decision-making along with feedback from the public at the open day events. No decisions have been made at this time as we are still in consultation stage.”

But the council would give no further details about what changes it was considering.

To find out when your local library is having its open day, pick up one of the leaflets from the libraries or visit www.kirklees.gov.uk/yourlibrary.
