COUNCIL staff are boycotting Dewsbury after one of their colleagues was robbed walking through the town.

Trade union Unison said Kirklees Council was not taking the safety of people who work at Empire House seriously enough.

Some frightened workers are now opting to work in Huddersfield rather than Dewsbury.

Kirklees Unison branch secretary Paul Holmes said: “Our members are on the verge of walking out unless the management take our health and safety issues seriously.”
