DEWSBURY will represent Yorkshire and the Humber when the nation marks the closing of the Paralympic Games on Sunday.

The town has been chosen to host the region’s flagship event for Bandstand Marathon – a series of outdoor community concerts.

Local musicians will perform their own rendition of Coldplay’s hit Viva La Vida in Crow Nest Park at 2pm to coincide with similar performances across the UK.

The performance will be part of a free family event in the park to celebrate cultures around the world.

A World Together, hosted by the Mayor of Kirklees, will feature music, dance, children’s activities, street entertainers and sporting challenges.

Attractions include Urban Canvas with their Urban Action Painting, samba drumming workshops with Claudio Kron do Brazil and circus skills with Crafty Devilz.
