A SPORTS club has handed over the cash it raised with a novelty race.

Dewsbury Road Runners held the Flat Cap Five event to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Members of the club put on their best flat caps and ran from Savile Town to Ossett and back to celebrate Yorkshire Day on Wednesday August 1.

Each runner paid £5 to enter the race and in total £600 was raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The money was handed over to Kerry Garner from the charity at The Leggers Inn in Savile Town on Tuesday.
