RAM-TASTIC: Details of the 2014 Great Yorkshire Show have been revealed.

Tickets for next summer’s Great Yorkshire Show will go on sale to the public on Monday March 3, organisers have announced.

The premier show in the agricultural calendar is set for its 156th instalment, taking place at its established home at the Harrogate showground on July 8-10 next year.

In keeping with previous crowd numbers, around 135,000 visitors are expected through the gates.

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS), which is responsible for hosting the three-day spectacular, will be hoping for more of the glorious weather that helped make this year’s show such a big success. This July, some 134,837 people paid a visit to the show, setting the third highest attendance in its illustrious history.

Visitors to next year’s event will be hoping to catch a glimpse of a Royal guest after the 2013 show clashed with the Queen’s Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace.

Promised by the YAS for 2014, is a “show stopping performance” by daredevil Lorenzo and his equestrian display featuring 10 horses in the Main Ring on each day of the event.

For the first time, the show will feature a ladies sheep shearing competition, and more than 5,000 of the country’s finest cattle, sheep, pigs, horses and ponies will compete for awards.

One of Britain’s largest cheese and dairy shows is among the highlights of the event’s busy programme and the popular Food Hall returns to showcase the region’s best food and drink.

National and regional designers will be featured on the catwalk in the Skipton Building Society Fashion Pavilion and some of the region’s top chefs will share their culinary skills in the Cookery Theatre.

There will also be a garden show for visitors to pick up horticultural hints and tips, the Great British Pole Climbing Championships and international show jumping events.

Tickets bought in advance will be priced at £22 for adults, £21 concessions, £9 children and £56 for a family pass.
