Kirklees plans streetlight switch-off – full list

DOZENS of streetlights could be switched off in the middle of the night under new proposals from Kirklees Council.

The council has suggested switching off 56 streetlights in Mirfield between midnight and 5am to help it save money on its energy bills.

A list of suggested locations has been sent to the town’s Kirklees councillors, which you can see below

A trial switch-off will begin across Kirklees in February and March.

In total, Kirklees is planning to switch off 2,000 lights in the early hours – less than four per cent of the 51,000 street lights that the council is responsible for.
