Music fest poised for Batley this Saturday

This weekend marks the return of Mencap in Kirklees' music festival, set to take place in Batley.

Organisers say that the event was so popular last year that they are bringing it back to coincide with Learning Disability Week.

The event is on Saturday (June 25) at Branches Day Centre, based in Carlinghow Mills, Batley.

The event runs from 3-8pm and tickets are £5 adults and £3 children.

Samantha Jones, development officer for Mencap in Kirklees, said: “Last year’s event was so amazing and there was lots of people telling us how they would love us to make the festival into an annual event.

“We are so proud that we have managed to attract some great acts to this year’s event.

“We hope the folks of Batley will join us and enjoy a fab day out.”

Among those playing on the day will be local band Spirit of Smokie, who have recently been touring Germany and Ireland.
