Police are treating a fire that broke out in a converted barn as suspicious.

Two fire crews from Dewsbury were called to the blaze at Nook Green, Thornhill, just after 6pm yesterday (Sunday).

A police spokesman said youths may have been seen acting suspiciously in the area just before the fire started.

The blaze started in the kitchen before spreading to the roof. The barn was empty at the time.

Police have appealed for witnesses. Contact Dewsbury and Mirfield NPT on 101.
