This year’s instalment takes place on Sunday, August 21 at the Mirfield Showground.

One of the headline attractions at the event will be the Red Devils Parachute Regiment, who will be wowing the crowds with a series of amazing aerobatic displays as they swoop into the showground.

Another feature at the Show will be the appearance of Blackrock llamas, which are the UK’s first and only llama agility display team and come from the Snowdonia National Park in Wales.

To embrace this year’s carnival theme organisers have announced that a team of stilt walkers will be wandering around the showground along with some creative and colourful dance routines in the main ring from the Katie Phillpott School of Dance and Sutton School of Performing Arts.

For music lovers there is a special line-up on the Mirf’fest Stage, featuring a host of local bands and solo artists who will entertain the crowds throughout the day.

Due to popular demand closing the main ring will be the heavily contested Tug-of-War, won last year by Mirfield Stags.

The event has proven popular in recent years, so much so that it won an award in the recent Huddersfield Examiner’s People Choice Awards as the Best Outdoor Event.

Karen Bullivant, chairwoman of Mirfield Show, said: “We are ecstatic to win this award especially against some very tough competition.

“The show could not take place without the hard work of our great team of volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to organise the event.

“It’s a great honour to be awarded this accolade especially as it has been voted for by the public.

“We are very excited about the 2016 show and have lots of exciting new attractions as well as firm-favourites including the Bonny Baby Show and the Horse and Pony Show.

“We hope to attract a record-breaking number of visitors at this year’s show to embrace the carnival spirit.”

Advanced tickets for the event are priced £3.50 per adult (£5 on the day) and under-16s are free.
