Community groups in our district can bid for a share of funds raised by Reporter Series readers and staff.
Money collected through our year-long charity appeal during 2013 was given to our four chosen causes last month.
And Kirklees’ charitable foundation One Community is using its £1,200 to support community projects in our district.
Its general fund opened to applications from voluntary and community groups as well as small charities this week.
Reporter Series editor Hannah Ridgeway said: “Grants given by One Community help people in our area make a difference to others in their neighbourhoods, whether it’s by contributing to room rental for a luncheon club or sports equipment for a junior football team.
“It’s the very reason we chose to the foundation as one of our charities and I’d urge as may voluntary groups in north Kirklees as possible to make an application.”
Non-profit groups can apply for up to £500 from the general fund and two others until May 26.
The General Fund supports voluntary and community groups operating in any location across Kirklees.
The Hazel Charlesworth Fund has a strong interest in supporting not-for-profit projects and groups operating in Lindley, but considers applications from voluntary groups anywhere in Kirklees.
The Judith and Neil Charlesworth Fund focuses on voluntary and community groups operating in postcode areas HD1, HD3 and HD7, but considers applications from any Kirklees voluntary groups.
