SNOW DAY: Cemetery Chapel, Heckmondwike.

THREE schools in Batley have closed because of the snow.

Batley Business and Enterprise College closed at 12.30pm today due to the inclement weather.

Mill Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School and Batley Girls’ High School have also closed.

The Highways Agency has advised motorists to keep checking the weather forecast today before travelling.

The agency has issued an amber alert and road users are advised to take extra care, plan their journeys and leave extra time.

Snow is expected to continue falling today.

Arriva Buses said this morning all services were running normally.

Offenders on Community Payback orders are on standby to clear footpaths and public areas throughout West Yorkshire.

Kirklees Council carried out a full grit at 5am.
